Fiberglass Kaolin

FG™

FG fiberglass kaolin provides a high-purity, finely processed aluminosilicate source for fiberglass manufacturing. Produced at Covia’s McIntyre and Hephzibah, Georgia, facilities, FG kaolin delivers a consistent and reliable source of alumina and silica for glass batching.

FG kaolin offers fine particle size and uniform chemistry to support stable melt conditions and consistent fiber formation.

Fiber Glass

FG kaolin also plays a critical role in managing redox conditions within the glass batch. By delivering consistent carbon levels, it helps glass chemists control sulfur-to-carbon ratios and chemical oxygen demand (COD), supporting proper fining, foam control and overall melt stability.

Reliable alumina source:

Provides a consistent, high-purity source of alumina to support strength, durability and thermal performance in fiberglass products.

Stable redox control:

Consistent carbon levels help manage redox potential and COD within the glass melt, supporting foam control, fining efficiency and process stability.

Uniform viscosity for fiber drawing:

Controlled chemistry and fine particle size contribute to stable viscosity, helping maintain consistent fiber formation and maximize pull rates.

Improved foam stability:

Supports better control of gas evolution and melt behavior, reducing defects and improving fiber quality.

Consistent raw material input:

Tightly controlled processing ensures uniform chemistry and particle size, enabling better control over batch formulation and production outcomes.
