High-Purity Ceramic Silica

CERASIL®

CERASIL® is a high-purity crystalline silica produced for ceramic whitewares, ceramic bodies, enamels and glazes. Engineered for consistency and formulation flexibility, CERASIL helps ceramic manufacturers manage shrinkage, thermal expansion, melt viscosity and glaze fit across demanding ceramic applications.

In ceramic body formulations, CERASIL supports processing control from forming through firing. In glazes and enamels, it helps regulate melting behavior, control viscosity and improve glaze-to-body fit. As part of Covia’s broader ceramics portfolio, CERASIL gives manufacturers access to a dependable source of quality-controlled ceramic silica backed by technical expertise, analytical support and reliable supply.

CERASIL high-purity ceramic silica is produced from high-purity crystalline silica feedstock for use in ceramic formulations where consistency, purity and performance matter.

In ceramic bodies, CERASIL helps reduce drying shrinkage, increase the body’s coefficient of thermal expansion and add plasticity to the finished product. During firing, CERASIL reacts with other formulation constituents to help develop a lattice-like structure that strengthens the ceramic body while providing an exit path for evolved gases.

In glazes and enamels, CERASIL helps regulate melting point and control melt viscosity. Adding silica can reduce glaze thermal expansion and improve glaze-to-body fit, thereby increasing craze resistance in the finished ceramic product.
